这个长相很奇怪的玩意儿被称为HANS device，翻成中文叫做头颈保护装置，这是赛车界里最重要的创新安全装备。由「Head and Support system」这几个英文单字的第一个字母组合而成的新名词，HANS与由安全帽上的扣环所连结出来的尼龙带相接而成，算是被动性的安全系统。它可以在遇到撞车事故时，大幅降低颈部与头部的被拉扯力道，同时减低头颈受伤的机率，而这两个部位也是赛车意外中最容易受到伤害的地方。
HANS实质上来说是一个由碳纤维肩垫、两条尼龙扣环带、轻量化发泡材料衬垫所组成，它能控制车手头部因为剧烈的晃动所产生的前向冲力。如果没有HANS，就算车手的身体被牢牢地绑在座椅上，头部依然会不由自主地晃动。在面对高速冲撞时，前向力道会极度剧烈，这一定会导致颈部受伤；而猛烈的撞击力道，也会让车手安全帽撞上方向盘或是座舱边缘。
HANS直接放在车手的肩膀上，中央部位处于安全帽的正后方，快拆式的尼龙带直接扣在安全帽两侧的扣环上，可调整长度的尼龙带可让车手更舒适地移动头部。当车手坐进车内时，技师会把安全带先放在HANS的肩垫上然后再系紧。为了让车手拥有一定程度的舒适性，有时会用上两套安全带：一套用来绑紧车手，另一套用来固定HANS。

机身采了下拉式的滑盖设计，并且搭配了五向键和数字键的操作在下方。这款铬银黑色的D908握在手里，可以感觉得到它那对于造型上设计的巧思，除了用来顺手外；在进行按键的操作上，也相当容易上手使用。按键的触感相当不错，而反应也很灵敏，对于习惯使用Samsung的使用者来说，算是非常得心应手的设计。
手机侧面的按键设置相当的简单，D908的左侧自上而下是音量控制键和MicroSD卡插槽，而右侧则是相机键及充电槽／耳机孔。充电槽和耳机孔都是使用相同的插孔接口，所以节省了不少空间，真是丝毫都不会浪费。
D908是采用MicroSD记忆卡做储存接口，除了内建的80MB可以自由使用外，本身还可以支持GPRS、蓝牙 2.0、USB等有线及无线传输。在数据存取交换上，算是相当地方便及完整。存储卡在使用时，还可以进行热插拔的动作，节省了一般开关机等候的时间。另一个比较有趣的，就是它支持了PictBridge的行动打印功能，让具有随身打印机的消费者，可以实时传输进行相片打印。
这款手机最大的卖点，就是在于机身的厚度仅有13mm左右，对于喜欢轻巧超薄型的使用者来说，这样的厚度相当地迷人。本身支持A2DP耳机的规格，搭配上2.1寸的TFT屏幕，拿来当做MP3随身听都觉得很优。
机身背盖扣的相当的紧，一定要用双手握紧用大姆指向前推才能推开；这个设计算是相当的贴心，让使用者不会在推下拉式键盘时，一不小心就让电池盖给飞了出去。不过，也因为机身做相当的薄，所以电池当然也厚不到那里去；因此在电源的续航力上，待机约二百多小时，而通话时间只有三个多小时而已。
推开滑盖就可以看见隐藏在手机里的320万自动对焦及4倍数字变焦的相机，在一旁还有自拍镜及闪灯光等设计，几乎该有的功能都一应俱全。并且，D908除了可以拍摄最大至2048 x 1536 pixels的静态照片之外，还可以录制MPEG4及H.263的无间断有声录像档案，最高可达352 x 288 pixels、每秒30张的画质。这些丰富的功能，让这只手机让喜欢拿着相机东拍西按的消费者，一定相当地爱不释手。
